I'm hoping my brother, ~ShadowXhunter and/or my friend, ~merlin76au will be free and can take some photos in the gardens after the parade. MCG will have a photographer along, so if I can get my hands on them, I'll be sure to share. So keep your eyes peeled for some ACIII cosplay shots shortly.
I have 2 weeks to make some repairs, though I know I won't have time to build his hidden blade, or rebuild the bracer. Not to worry! They shall be done in time for Supanova in April. Now that I have my hands on The Art of Assassin's Creed III book (omg it's gorgeous!) I can start designing how I'm going to construct the hidden blade. I want to attempt to make it functional (but con-safe of course), including the knife to swivel, which I think will be possible. I haven't quite nutted out how the mechanism to extend the entire blade will work yet, but I'll have to play and see what works. The tricky part will be the fact that the blade of the knife is extended with the entire blade, though needs to be separate as it also acts as a stand-alone knife.
Also to rebuild:
- hood. That goddamn hood. Currently working on this at the moment. Matthew has a fat head so it's proving more difficult than anticipated.
- bracer (hidden blade)
- holsters
- belt that the holsters attach to - add in the additional belting, which I'm hoping will alleviate some of the pressure on the buttons. Who thought it was practical to attach a belt, holding all of his weapons, to the buttons of his jacket?
- new gloves because Matt ripped the old ones
Sharpshooter has held up well, so I don't think I need many repairs on him. Hooray! I think some of the stitching came loose along the trim on his jacket, but it's not hanging off or anything. I did lose some tassels from his serape so I may need to fix those up, if it's that noticeable. And quit standing on the edge of it so I don't lose more
Anyway, you'll no doubt see some progress shots when I get to work on these items.
